Full Spectrum Solar Energy System – FSSE EUDP Project Korsør

The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP), along with our partners Envafors and Normann Olsen, have shown significant commitment to this groundbreaking project. They expect our Full Spectrum Solar Energy (FSSE) technology to play a crucial role in helping Denmark achieve its ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

1. Presenting Our FSSE Product

EUDP is a fund whose goal is supporting projects that help the country reach its climate goals. We applied with our product as part of solving the problem and gained their support.

2. Project Planning

Many decisions needed to be made, including location, size, partners, budget distribution, and general system specifications. Project planning started almost 2 years before construction began.

3. Measuring the Field

Before construction can start, the field needs to be surveyed and we need to acquire all drawings and plans for existing wires and pipes buried in the ground.

4. Construction Start

When we started digging, we encountered very hard clay soil and some unexpected pipes. These challenges happen in construction projects and require adjusting plans accordingly.

5. Assembly of Panels

5. Working together with Normann Olsen, all the panels are now standing strong on the field in Korsør.

6. Next Steps

5. We need to assemble all the mirror panels, pipes, ORC system, and thermal silos. Afterwards, the system can be tested and put into operation.

How It Works

ATE’s FSSE system is strategically installed on an unused field adjacent to Envafors’ office, positioned alongside existing solar installations for optimal comparison and integration. Unlike traditional solar panels that only generate electricity during daylight hours, our system harnesses a wider spectrum of solar energy to produce both electricity and heat, operating even during low sunlight periods and at night.

Advanced Solar Collection

  • Full spectrum solar collectors capture broader range of solar energy
  • Advanced heat storage systems maintain energy availability 24/7
  • Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) converts stored heat into electricity
  • Dual output: electricity generation and district heating capability

Reliable Energy Production

  • Consistent energy output regardless of weather conditions
  • Stable power generation during nighttime hours
  • Predictable energy delivery for grid planning
  • More efficient land and resource utilization

Integrated System Design

The FSSE technology combines cutting-edge solar collectors with large-scale high-temperature heat storage and sophisticated energy conversion systems, creating a comprehensive renewable energy solution that maximizes efficiency and reliability.

System Installation

We have deployed our FSSE system on an unused field near existing solar installations. This strategic location next to Envafors’ office enables optimal monitoring and demonstrates the technology’s effectiveness in real-world conditions.

EUDP Partnership and Future Expansion

This project represents a major advancement in solar energy technology and Denmark’s renewable energy strategy. We expect FSSE technology to become a cornerstone of sustainable energy infrastructure, and ATE is positioned to lead this transformation. This Korsør installation is planned as the first of many ATE FSSE fields across Denmark and even international.
